Rayne backed out of the kitchens thanking the House elves again and again whilst they plucked at his black pyjamas and tutted, "He's too thin," "underfed," "wasting away", "aren't you hungry?" Rayne was far from it as a matter of fact having forced two sandwiches and three mugs of pumpkin juice. "I'm f-fine," he stammered trying to avoid tripping over a House Elf that had snuck behind him as if to bar the way, "I only wanted a biscuit of something. As the portrait of the fruit bowl swung open a cool draft swept through the kitchen and Rayne pulled his dark blue dressing gown tighter around his bare torso and shoulders. He actually had a Buddha belly from so much eating. "Honestly," he pleaded with the Elves, "Let me go.. if I get caught.." His Ravenclaw instinct had kicked in at last - after half an hour of rule-breaking; a record for him, "I've got to go.." Rayne turned and clambered out of the door and into the silent, dark and cold corridor. He lit his wand to check the coast and saw he was alright for the time being and breathed a sigh of relief. Getting caught and tarnishing that perfect record would be a disaster. The fruitbowl painting clicked back into place concealing the light and warmth of the giant Hogwarts kitchen.
Rayne began to head for the stairs and the Ravenclaw tower but heard footsteps ahead, in the dark, and the voice of two Professors. In a panic the Ravenclaw extinguished his wand lit and stepped backwards and into an open doorway concealing himself in the shadows. The voices grew louder and Rayne held his breath hoping his thudding heartbeat wouldn't give him away, it was so loud in his ears. Finally he heard the footsteps fading, the clacking of shoes became quiter and the conversation became silence once more. The two Professors had turned off down another corridor and away into another part of the castle. "Thank fu-" Another noise silenced him, a brigade of knights clattered over his head charging from one painting to another, "you almost gave me a heart attack," he muttered at them quietly. "Don't you bloody well sleep?"
Rayne rubbed his eyes, ready for sleep and stifled a yawn. It was late, at least three hours past curfew..

Victoire was sometimes an insomniac, so she had to wander around the school. Tonight was one of those nights, she could hear some steps somewhere, so she wanted to see who it was? Her steps was quick and very determinded. She had her pink nightdress on, and wasn't afraid to show it to whoever it was.
She went on and she saw Rayne Le Boursier from Ravenclaw. She cleared her throat as so he could hear it - "You better be glad I am not a head girl, Rayne" She said smiling at him. Victoire send him one of her veela smiles. "So, why are you uo this late anyways?" She asked with french accent

Rayne jumped about fifty feet out of his skin when Victoire spoke. He coulda sworn he had been hidden! Damn what if the voice was that of a teacher? Rayne bit his lip in a panic. Relief quickly took hold as he recognised the voice, Victoire of course, and then the nauseating blush ran colour high into his cheeks. Lucky it was dark, was it dark enough, to hide his blooming embarassment.
"Victoire, Hi.." Rayne's voice had levelled at least two octanes higher than his natural tone, "I was hungry so I wandered down here.. I can't sleep if I'm hungry." By the look of him you wouldn't think Rayne ate that much at all, he was a slender, reletively handsome boy with no real muscles but lean all the same. However, he could eat more than most of his reletives in one sitting and still be hungry later. "So really, it was a damned important mission - worth rule breaking I mean.. And considering that I am a Ravenclaw I think it was a responsible rule break." There it was the cheeky grin shining in the dark.
"But on the other hand," He noted changing the subject slightly, "you're out a-wandering also..."
